Crc32 HashAlgorithm for C# .NET

Here is a concise, valid implementation of the Cyclic Redundancy Check algorithm in C# (CRC-32-IEEE 802.3). It is based on the work found here but slightly improved for performance and to make it work in all cases. Following the code is an example of the class in use.

// CRC32 Code deriving from HashAlgorithm
using System;
using System.Security.Cryptography;

Here is some sample code of the class in use:

Crc32 crc32 = new Crc32();
using (FileStream f = File.Open("tempfile.txt", FileMode.Open)) crc32.ComputeHash(f);
uint crc = crc32.CrcValue;

Test vectors

I've just done this in Delphi. The generated table is same but I need to test main calculation. Do you have some test vectors?

For my current implementation

CRC("message digest") = 7F 9D 15 20

different crcTable

hi
sorry I searched crc32 in internet a lot and i saw different crcTables.
i dont know what to do , would u please help me?

Crc32 Table

There are many different variants of the CRC algorithm, some have a different space (bits), and others start with a different polynomial, and other times, there implementation is incorrect (watch out!). In the end, you must use the same CRC algorithm during the initial computation and the final verification. If you have control over both the initial computation and the final check, then it's easy, just choose the same algorithm with sufficient number of bits to avoid frequent collisions (32 bits is common). If you want to verify an existing CRC, then you must know exactly which algorithm is used. If you know it is CRC32, chances are that its the CRC-32-IEEE 802.3 which is provided above. In any case, you should always test it with some known test vectors (ie. files with known CRC32 values computed by other utilities etc.).
