Acer TravelMate 6592G Keyboard Replacement Guide

This is the guide to replace the keyboard on the Acer 6592G laptop. It is fairly straight forward to do and all the tools you need are: #1 Phillips screwdriver and a small flat screwdriver.

If you've never used a screwdriver before, I recommend that you contact your nearest Acer dealer for support.

	Laptop before disassembly (open). Place the laptop on a well lit flat surface.
	Laptop before disassembly (closed)
	Remove battery and disconnect power cord from laptop. Ground yourself to remove all static from your body
	Remove the two memory cover screws then remove the cover
	Remove the screw that is labeled with an arrow on the plastic.
	Remove the two screws on each side of the EZ-dock2 expansion port. These two screws are located in the square looking slots.
	Remove the two screws on the rear side, located on the hinge for the LCD screen.
	Turn the laptop right side up and fully open the laptop so that the LCD screen is laying horizontally flat. Then use a flat screwdriver and carefully pry open and remove the upper cover. The cover is held by some plastic snaps. I had success starting at the hinges.
	Remove the two screws that are located at the top of the keyboard.
	Gently lift the keyboard at the top, then pull the bottom out by moving the keyboard away from you.
	Flip the keyboard upside down to expose the bottom ribbon cables.
	For the large ribbon cable, lift the black plastic clamp on the connector, then pull the ribbon out. For the smaller ribbon cable, use your fingernail or small screwdriver to pull the tabs forward (by a few millimeters) on each side of the connector, the pull the cable out.
	Reverse all the steps when putting the keyboard back together. Remember to use the same screws in all the same locations as not all screws are the same length or the same size.

Also

I used this guide for my mom's Acer TravelMate 2480 (since you didn't have one for it) and there are only two differences.
1 - the 6th picture isn't like the 2480
2 - the ribbon cable looks different
I spent 30 minutes looking for something like this, so THANK YOU for having it!!!!!!!!
(I am SO glad that it worked for my mom's laptop--she was mad at me for breaking it)

CMOS battery

This guide is very nice. I would say perfect.
I have a TravelMate 6464WMLi and it looks very much the same.

Thats a lot more complicated then I thought. What are replacement keyboards priced at these days?

The CMOS battery is often quite hidden and tricky to find. On some laptops its almost not accessible.
